Type of Project: CHousing, Material Experimentation, Fabrication and Sustainable Urban Development

The main focus of this research was to create a concrete compositive made primarily out of desert sand in order to reduce carbon emissions and the environmental impact. This work is separated into different phases, such as: Material, Urban, Architecture and Fabrication. In the material section, experiments were conducted to descover the most suitable concrete ratio. In the masterplan phase, principles of sustainable urbanism were incorporated into a genetic algorithm to orient the partition of blocks and streets. Genetic algorithms were also used to develop the volumetric geometries of the housing units. In the last phase, fabrication experiments were conducted with different molds in order to test replicability and environmental impact.
