The Kinect surface prototype utilizes photoresistors to process analog data, informing the angle rotation of servo motors. Sensors strategically placed across the surface trigger rotations from servo motors on adjacent surface modules. To achieve the desired self-shading performance and potential reflective sound panel, a modular three-dimensional system was essential. Various testing prototypes, including balsa wood, fabric, and sandwich layering, were explored. However, none proved optimal, as they could only affect one module at a time. Based on these findings, a modular system employing origami principles was developed. This design induces a chain reaction where the regional scale module, pushed by servo motors, influences adjacent modules, resulting in a facade with enhanced bendability.
